A thin PTFE layer is bonded to the sealing lip of the elastomer oil seal. The springless lip relies on PTFE memory recovery to maintain interference with the shaft. Unidirectional hydrodynamic grooves enhance pumping action for high-speed operation in one direction and brief reverse rotation.
